Poppies

This term we had to write a Poem about ANZAC and the war. We also had dyed a picture of a poppy to put our  poem onto. This is my poem.

Dawn service

It was dark and cold on a Saturday morning.We were going to the dawn service.It was the day well morning of ANZAC Day. where we remember those that died for us in world war 1 and 2 . As we arrived there was a big crowed of people. Some people talked about how it was the 100 anniversary and how all the people died for us in war .

Then as we started walking down the road you could hear the band playing and the tanks going passed. As people stopped the next people did and they carried on and on. There was so many people around me that we were all touching shoulders. They talked more about the war . Then they showed this video we could not see it because there was a big tree in front of us. Mum tells me that there is going to be a big bang so that I won't get a fright. There is silent for a few seconds and then bang, bang, bang. I got a fright for the first one but then got used to it on the 2nd and 3rd.

ANZAC Day is the day were people fought and even some gave their lives up for our freedom. Heaps of people had to leave their family and if they had a farm they had to leave everything. I had a really good time for the first time at the dawn service.

Lantern writing

Magic lantern

Once there was a lantern a magic one. It was one that was old and not that colourful so nobody wanted to buy it. The shape was a very weird shape but it was still a magic one but nobody knew it was. Everyone just thought that it was a just not a very cool one that anyone liked. But one day a little girl was walking by a little lantern shop.

The little girl said to her mum I would like the old lantern the one that has a faded pattern on it and the colour was a colour you could not see any more because the sunshine had taken away the colour of it. The little girl ended up getting the lantern that she wanted. That night when the little girl went to bed she saw the lantern glowing in the dark. The little girl was cheerful at first she was scared but after she had joyfulness jiggling around in her body. Then minutes later music started to play out of the magic lantern. From that day on the little girl kept the magic lantern and she loved it so much.

A few weeks ago we did some Picasso art. I really liked this because it did not have to perfect the sides could be uneven and the eyes can be different shapes. This is my piece of art here.

Hi my name is Georgia

I live in Hawke`s  Bay and I have a family of 5

I have 1 older brother and 1younger  sister a mum and dad and I also have a cute dog.  I like doing dancing,swimming, netball and spending  time with my family and friends. My family likes to go biking together. We like to travel to places with our cousins for special occasions. I go to St Mary’s school. At St Mary’s school we have a bike track, a library and very good opportunities to take on.

Hawke`s Bay has heaps of cool stuff to do like swimming and sliding at Splash Planet which is a water park. We have skate parks, New Zealand National Aquarium, art deco, Te Mata Peak and A and P show. I also like how it takes 5 minutes to get somewhere in Hastings and the shops  are all so close to us We also have very delightful weather.We are known as the fruit bowl of New Zealand.
